Family Bank is boring on purpose. It keeps only what it needs to run your family bank and nothing more. This page explains exactly what that means.

The short version

What we collect

Your sign-in

You sign in with Apple. Apple gives Family Bank an anonymous identifier for your account, which is how the app knows it's you. Family Bank never requests your email address, and it doesn't keep any name Apple provides.

The name you choose

When you set up or join a family, you enter the name your family knows you by, like "Mom," "Dad," or "Sam." That's the only name Family Bank stores for you.

What your family enters

To run your family bank, the app stores the information you and your family put into it:

A notification token

If you turn on notifications, Apple issues a token that lets us deliver notifications to your device. We store that token so we can send the alerts you've allowed, like a chore waiting for approval or a milestone earned.

What we don't collect

The app contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking code. It doesn't record how you use it, and it never asks for your location, device details, email address, or contacts.

How your information is used

That's the whole list. Your information is never used for advertising, profiling, or anything unrelated to running your family bank.

Who can see it

Your family, and only your family. Access rules are enforced by the database itself, for every request:

Nobody else. We don't sell, rent, or share your information, and the developer doesn't browse family data. We'd only look at it to fix a problem you've asked for help with, or if the law requires it.

Service providers

Two companies help run Family Bank:

Kids' information

Family Bank is built for families to manage kids' money together. An adult sets up the family and adds each kid, providing only their first name or nickname. Kids can join with a code from an adult, sign in with their own Apple Account, and record their own chores, cash, and goals within that family. The app has no ads, no public profiles, and no way to contact anyone, inside or outside the family.

An adult in the family can review, edit, or remove a kid's information from within the app. If you're a parent or guardian and have a question about your kid's information, contact us using the details below.

Keeping and deleting your information

Your information is kept for as long as your account and family exist. You can delete your account at any time from the Family tab ▸ Delete account. Before anything happens, the app shows you exactly what will change in each family you belong to.

Your sign-in, notification tokens, and settings are deleted right away. Then, for each family:

You can also ask us to delete your information by contacting us.

Security

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is checked on the server for every request, so one family can never see another family's information, and kids see only what's theirs.
